Our Kiwanis Club

Formed in 1922, the Kiwanis Club of Burbank
is very proud of the traditions we have developed while serving our community for over 85 years. These traditions are carried on today in our many community and service projects. Our club's focus is on helping the children of Burbank and giving back to our Community. As part of Kiwanis International, we are also able to help children and change lives around the world.

Kiwanis is a part of a twentieth - century phenomenon. The "service club movement", as it has been termed, is one of North America's most important contributions to the life of our times. Today, the service club movement is bigger, better - accepted, and more desired than ever before in its history.

What the Local Clubs Do

Membership in a local Kiwanis club offers many benefits. Weekly club meetings provide fellowship - old fashioned fellowship - and a welcome break from the more serious cares of the day. Just as important, active membership provides the means through which you, and individuals of similar persuasion, can do something for others.

Our club is geared to address the needs of the community. On a broader level, Kiwanis clubs all over the world share the commitment to solving problems of international concern through participation in "major emphasis programs". All of these programs enable Kiwanians to give of themselves - experience, knowledge, time and love - to all who need them.

We are a very active club with over 90 members. Membership is open, by invitation, to men and women interested in contributing their time and energy to community service through the Kiwanis Club. Come join us for good fellowship, good speakers and good food at any of our weekly meetings. We have lunch meetings on Wednesdays of every month.

As a service organization, most of our activities involve some form of community service, either working directly in the community or raising money to support community functions and meet specific needs. Most of our fund raising activities include a community service component.

As we work to enhance the quality of life for specific individuals in need, for our community as a whole and for children around the world we have a lot of fun and good fellowship. We enjoy the blessings of personal satisfaction and sense of accomplishment that comes from helping our fellow man. We realize that working together as a group we accomplish much more than we would individually. Our club engages in numerous community activities throughout the year. Among other activities, We:

Sponsor Kiwanis Key Clubs at Burbank High School and Providencia High School.

Raise money for the Salvation Army by ringing the bell in December.

Additionally, we provide financial support for many events and projects sponsored by local youth groups and residents. The Club is always looking to engage in new and different activities to help provide for a better local community.

Our two major fundraisers are the Annual Gala and our Pancake Breakfast.  We also do special fund raising for specific projects.

We hope you will enjoy your journey through the different aspects of our club as you tour our site.
